Rheinmetall überprüft Zwei-Säulen-Strategie

Die Rheinmetall AG, Düsseldorf, überprüft die Nachhaltigkeit der
Zwei-Säulen-Strategie des Unternehmens mit seinen beiden Bereichen
Automotive und Defence. Automotive und Defence soll es jeweils ermöglicht
werden, ihre Wettbewerbspositionen mit größerer Flexibilität
weiterzuentwickeln. In diesem Zusammenhang untersucht Rheinmetall
insbesondere die Möglichkeit eines Börsengangs der Kolbenschmidt Pierburg
AG, die im Rheinmetall-Konzern den Bereich Automotive repräsentiert. Der
Vorstand hält sich dabei unverändert offen, an der bisherigen
Zwei-Säulen-Strategie festzuhalten.

Der Rheinmetall-Konzern hat mit seinen beiden Bereichen Automotive und
Defence im Jahr 2010 einen Umsatz von rund 4 Mrd EUR erzielt.

Die Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG mit Sitz in Neckarsulm ist ein
Automobilzulieferer mit Fokus auf Produkte des Antriebsstrangs und
Komponenten zur Emissions- und Verbrauchsreduzierung. Das Produktportfolio
umfasst ein breites Spektrum in den Bereichen Luftversorgung,
Schadstoffreduzierung, Pumpen sowie Kolben, Motorblöcke und Gleitlager. Im
vergangenen Geschäftsjahr erwirtschaftete das Unternehmen einen Umsatz von
rund 2 Mrd EUR.

Die Defence-Sparte des Rheinmetall-Konzerns zählt zu den namhaften und
großen Adressen der internationalen Verteidigungs- und
Sicherheitsindustrie. Mit rund 9.000 Mitarbeitern erzielte Rheinmetall
Defence 2010 einen Jahresumsatz von rund 2 Mrd EUR.
