Rheinmetall is analysing the continuation of its two-pillar strategy

Düsseldorf based Rheinmetall is analysing the sustainability of its two
pillar-strategy which comprises the Automotive and Defence divisions. Both
businesses should be given the opportunity to further develop their market
positions with more flexibility. In this context Rheinmetall is exploring
the possibility of an IPO of Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG, which represents
the Automotive division of the Group. The Executive Board, however, will
keep the option open to maintain its current two-pillar strategy.

Rheinmetall Group with its two divisions Automotive and Defence achieved
sales of about EUR4 billion in fiscal 2010.

Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG, based in Neckarsulm, is a supplier to the
automotive industry with a clear focus on powertrain systems and components
designed to reduce engine emissions. It offers a broad range of products in
the fields of air supply, emission control and pumps as well as pistons,
engine blocks and bearings. In 2010 Automotive posted sales of about EUR2
billion.

Rheinmetall Defence stands out prominently among the world's top suppliers
of defence technology and security equipment. Employing about 9,000
employees Rheinmetall Defence reached sales of about EUR2 billion in fiscal
2010.
