Purchase of Shares

The Company was notified on 10 July 2012 that the Elektron Technology 2012 Employee Benefit Trust ("the EBT") on that day purchased through the market 991,325 shares at a price of 20p. The holding by the EBT is now 14,675,650 ordinary shares in the Company, representing approximately 12.30 per cent. of the Company's total voting rights.

The shares will be held to satisfy future requests to exercise options under the Company's option schemes. In the Company's accounts they will be treated as if they were shares held in treasury i.e. they will be excluded from the number of shares used for calculating earnings per share.  However, this transaction does not affect the number of Elektron shares in issue or the total number of voting rights which remains unchanged at 119,296,987.  The Company does not hold any ordinary shares in treasury.
