                            Significant Shareholding

The Board of Elektron Plc (the "Company" or "Elektron") announces that it was
informed on 6 February 2006 that, following a purchase on that date of 150,000
ordinary shares of 5p each in the capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at
14p per Ordinary Share, TD Waterhouse now holds 2,505,000 Ordinary Shares as
nominee, representing 3.17 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
