PME African Infrastructure Opportunities Plc, an investment company established to invest in sub-Saharan African infrastructure and infrastructure related industries, announces that it has received notification from Qatar Investment Authority that it holds 50,000,000 ordinary shares of USD0.01 each ("Ordinary Shares"), representing 34.78% of the issued share capital of the Company.  In addition, the Qatar Investment Authority holds warrants to subscribe for 12,499,999 Ordinary Shares.  Such interests were acquired on 12 July 2007.

 

Qatar Investment Authority is the beneficial holder of the specified Ordinary Shares and warrants.  Qatar Investment Authority was established pursuant to Qatar Emiri Decision No. 22 of 2005 as a government entity, the purpose of which is investing and managing reserve funds and other assets assigned to it by the State of Qatar.

 

The directors of the Company confirm that, so far as they are aware, no obligations under Rule 9 of the UK City Code on Takeovers and Mergers arise as a result of this notification.
