Non-Executive Director Appointment
Elektron plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Simon Acland, aged 52, has been appointed to the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 15 November 2010. He will chair the Remuneration Committee.
Simon Acland has over 20 years' experience of venture capital, primarily at Quester, where he became Managing Director. When Quester was sold to New Media Spark in 2007 it had £200 million under management and was one of the leading UK venture capital investors specialising in early stage technology.
In the last 20 years Simon has been a board member of over 30 companies, mostly in the technology sector. These have included public companies listed on The London Stock Exchange (including two companies which reached the FTSE 250), AIM, NASDAQ and EASDAQ. He has extensive experience of acting as a non-executive director in growth companies, both private and public, of fund-raising and flotations, and of mergers and acquisitions.
Simon is currently a director of two London Stock Exchange listed venture capital trusts managed by Triple Point Investment Management, TP 2008 (I) plc and TP 2010 plc, and of a privately held manufacturing company, Bond Fabrications Limited.
Simon's guide to venture capital for entrepreneurs, "Angels, Dragons and Vultures - how to tame your investors…and not lose your company" was published by Nicholas Brealey Publishing in October 2010. He has also written two novels.
Simon holds 65,000 ordinary shares in the Company, acquired today at 37p per share, which represents 0.061% of the Company's issued share capital.

As disclosed above, Simon Acland is a director of TP 70 2009 plc, a venture capital trust which is in Members' Voluntary liquidation. Simon was a director of LinkGuard Limited, an internet software company, which was dissolved after creditors' voluntary liquidation and also a director of Digital Union UK Limited and Nexagent Limited which went into liquidation after administration.
There are no further disclosures required to be made relating to Simon Acland under Schedule 2(g) of the AIM Rules for Companies.
