SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE: PROCESSED THE FIRST E-PRESCRIPTION.

2 November 2021. The first real e-prescriptions have been received and successfully processed by SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE. This milestone in the company's history was achieved last Thursday October 28 when the first real electronic prescription came in. Since then, further orders have continued to come in, all from the gematik e-Rx pilot in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.

SHOP APOTHEK EUROPE has prepared for the introduction of electronic prescriptions (e-Rx) for more than two years and has been ready since this summer. The processing of the first e-Rx demonstrates that all of SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE's front- and back-end processes are working smoothly. The gematik e-Rx pilot in Germany started in the Berlin-Brandenburg focus region this July.

After an intense preparation phase, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE has now demonstrated that the company is ready to handle electronic prescriptions. "This is a big success for our project team and our company as a whole. We have been working towards this exciting moment for over two years," says CEO Stefan Feltens. "As Germany's leading online pharmacy brand, with our commitment to improving the life of our patients, we are ideally positioned to provide an even better service to our prescription medicine customers."

Following the ongoing pilot phase and a nationwide introduction phase in December, e-prescriptions are expected to become mandatory for all drugs prescribed to people covered by statutory insurance in Germany from 1 January 2022 or later that year. Germany-based patients will then be able to submit their prescriptions directly in the webshop or via the SHOP APOTHEKE app.

SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE customers will continue to be able to send a paper prescription by regular mail - so patients can choose the method that best fits their needs. However, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE expects e-prescriptions to become the standard in Germany after the launch phase: "We expect that our customers will rapidly adopt e-prescriptions and the convenience they offer. Digital services are now part of life for all age groups and we are pleased that we can finally offer our customers this safe and fast way of filling their prescriptions," says Chief Commercial Officer and co-founder Stephan Weber.
