Berlin/Frankfurt, Germany, May 12th, 2020 - Spielworks has closed a seven-digit seed financing round led by FinLab EOS VC Fund and Volksbank Mittweida eG, which have been investing in Spielworks since 2019. FinLab EOS VC Fund is a venture capital fund backed by both EOS VC, the investment arm of Block.one the publisher of the blockchain protocol EOSIO, and FinLab AG (ISIN: DE0001218063; Ticker: A7A.GR), one of the first and largest investors in financial services technologies and blockchain in Europe.

Spielworks operates both the gaming platform Wombat and the collectible and community game Chain Clash. Spielworks believes that the gaming industry will face a massive paradigm shift and will develop into a playground where gamers actually can make a living. The emerging blockchain technology helps to enable true ownership of digital assets opening up a huge window of opportunity for play-to-earn game economies. With the new investment, Spielworks will further expand the Wombat gaming platform by extensively onboarding high-quality games and adding features to support users to comfortably and securely play games, own digital assets and earn in-game cryptocurrency. The game Chain Clash already launched on the gaming platform and demonstrates how real human beings can "live" on the blockchain as rare, evolving and fun-to-use collectibles.

Swen E. Hallasch, managing director of Spielworks, says: "We are grateful for the strong partnership with FinLab EOS VC Fund and Volksbank Mittweida eG who share our vision in gaming as a catalyst for mass-market blockchain adoption and support us to further ease the entry barriers especially for first-time blockchain users and to bring the advantages of blockchain technology to today's Web 2.0 gamers."

Stefan Schütze, managing director of FinLab EOS VC Fund added: "As a supporter of the EOSIO ecosystem with our fund and investments, we really like the approach of Spielworks - how it enables the unique solution for users to create free EOS token accounts easily. This is in the purist sense a true "game changer" as with Wombat users can get effortless access to the best blockchain games built using EOSIO software."
