Zurich, 3 February 2015
The Kolb Group, a family business managed by the third generation, has been active in the electrical installation sector for almost 100 years. The Kolb Group's electrical division consists of four independent companies: Kolb Elektro AG, Elektro SBW AG, Kolb Elektro SBW Aktiengesellschaft in Schaan (FL) and Kolb el-Consult AG. These four companies together employ some 110 people and generate joint annual sales of around CHF 19 million. With this acquisition, the Burkhalter Group is solidifying its presence in the Rheintal region. "The purchase agreement signed today will be executed by 3 July 2015 at the latest," says Gaudenz F. Domenig, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Burkhalter Group.
The increasing automation of the building technology segment means that the electrical engineering business is growing in importance. Electrical installations are becoming ever more complex. "We are joining the Burkhalter Group to enable us to meet these future challenges and optimally exploit the available market potential. Its business model promotes local entrepreneurs and offers us extensive operational independence. At the same time, this step allowed the Kolb family to settle the succession of the company," says Daniel Kolb, manager and co-owner of the Kolb Group's electrical division in explanation of the reasons for the sale. Daniel Kolb will continue to manage the electrical division. The other divisions of the Kolb Group, most notably Kolb Protech AG in Oberriet with its machine engineering department, metalworking shop, candelabra manufacturing department and winding shop, are not affected by the sale.
