Viscom with Innovative X7056 - First Combined Optical and 3D X-Ray
Inspection
First genuine parallel inspection - Viscom sets new standard for inspection
High-performance 3D X-ray inspection with simultaneous optical inspection
of the top and bottom sides of a printed circuit board
Meets the highest throughput demands - very fast inspection times and
minimal handling times, with high cost-effectiveness and top inspection
quality
Hanover, February 2007 – The Viscom AG, European market leader in automatic
optical inspection systems for the electronics industry, brings a unique,
long-awaited innovation to the market: the X7056 combi-system makes
possible a high-performance 3D X-ray inspection with simultaneous optical
inspection of the top and bottom sides of a printed circuit board.
Modern PCBs are populated with a rising number of miniaturized components
at increasing density. 'As a result of this trend, our customers must
increasingly detect hidden defects as well, quickly and reliably,' explains
Dr. Martin Heuser, company founder and board member of the Viscom AG. As
the first inline-capable X-ray system, the X7056 enables such an
inspection, quickly and cost-effectively: the combi-system only inspects
those locations that require it with X-ray technology. In parallel with
the X-ray inspection, the top and bottom sides of the PCB are optically
inspected. 'This way, we can meet even extreme throughput demands from our
customers, and at the same time deliver the highest inspection quality,'
continues Heuser.
The high-performance microfocus X-ray tube - developed and produced by
Viscom - provides the X-ray inspection with a resolution of 15 µm/pixel.
First-class image quality is achieved by 3D iterative modeling, so even
complex overlapping on PCBs populated on both sides can be reliably
analyzed.
Additional X7056 highlights: The system is fully modular so it can be used
either as a combi-system or as a straight AXI system. Thus, the X7056 is
highly flexible and can be individually tailored to all customer requests
and requirements. 'The X7056 is unique on the market,' emphasizes Volker
Pape, board member and founder of the Viscom AG. 'Even as we begin serial
production of the system, we have already received numerous customer
inquiries for this unique system.' Viscom also sees a great potential for
the X7056 in the Asian market, where the machine gains points because of
its speed and cost efficiency. Viscom also received distinct interest over
the new system when it was presented during a live video presentation from
Hanover to the Internepcon Trade Fair in Tokyo, where the X7056 was
introduced to the public for the first time, with great success.
