Hannover, May 29 2006 - The Viscom AG, European market leader for automated
optical inspection systems in the electronics industry, has successfully
started the year 2006.
With revenues of €13,1 million, Viscom exceeded the exceptional quarter of
January to March 2005 by 8,9%. Profitability rose even more conspicuously:
the EBIT reached €2,9 million and stands 4.2%-points over the first quarter
2005. 'This advantageous development can be traced back to the continual
advancement of serial production, which has as its goal higher productivity
and reduced expenditures for materials through reduced purchasing prices',
as Ulrich Mohr, board member responsible for finance, explains the
improvement.
With revenues of €9,1 million in the first quarter of 2006, the European
region constitutes the largest sales market for the Viscom Group. However,
the Asian market showed especially strong growth in this year's first
quarter: here, revenues climbed 176% to €1,6 million. The portion of
company revenues rose alongside, from 4.9% to the current 12.4%. 'This rise
reflects the dynamic of the Asian market and underscores the future growth
potential in this region', says Volker Pape, company founder and board
member of the Viscom Group.
In America, Viscom increased its revenues 23.7% to €2,4 million during the
first quarter 2006. The portion this market contributed to total revenues
rose from 15.9% to a current 18.1%, pointing out the increasing
international presence taken by the Viscom Group.
Worldwide, Viscom received orders of over €11,0 million in the first
quarter of 2006. Thus, customers of the Viscom AG placed 10% more orders
than in the first quarter of 2005.
The Viscom Group engages itself in a sustainable growth market. The
successful initial public offering of the Viscom Group on the tenth of May
2006 provided the company with a high influx of liquidity. 'With this,
Viscom is in the position to carry forward numerous future-oriented
investments and to clearly accelerate the future growth dynamic', as Martin
Heuser, company founder and board member, points out.
With targeted additions to its workforce, Viscom is laying the groundwork
for the continued growth of the corporation. In the report period, the
number of employees rose by 30, to 296.
