Partnerships

ZEAL’s vision is to create a better world of lottery, and this is why we believe that working with charitable and non- profit-organisations gives an extra meaning to what we do. We are very proud to report on some fantastic partnerships which our subsidiaries have entered into. We collaborate with some well-known names, such as ONCE and the Spanish Red Cross, but we also have a range of other solutions which enable virtually anyone to raise more funds for their chosen cause.

Many organisations have recognised that lottery and draw-based lotto products are a fantastic way to engage their supporters, and we are truly delighted that our subsidiaries have been able to deliver just that.

LOTTERY GAMES – ‘AN ECONOMIC DRIVING FORCE FOR CHARITIES’

One of ZEAL subsidiaries, Ventura24 S.L.U., has been collaborating with ONCE, the Spanish National Organization for the Blind set up in 1938, which is proud to have ‘built up a system of social benefits for the blind and visually impaired that has no equivalent anywhere else in the world’.

According to ONCE (http://www.once.es/), the charity earmarked and awe-inspiring 230 million Euros a year (2009 figure) to its good cause. In the category of good works, ONCE has an impressive record of achievement. In 1989 it created 1,000 jobs for the blind. In 1988 it awarded 3,000 scholarships to the blind and built hospitals, schools and specially equipped sports and recreational centers and most importantly, the charity embarked on a major project - ONCE Foundation for Cooperation and Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities. Impressively, when the charity celebrated 25 years of this Foundation back in 2013, its records showed that it generated more than 80,000 jobs for people with disabilities.

ONCE states that, ‘Lottery game products are the ONCE’s economic driving force’ and this is where Ventura 24 comes in. Since it partnered up with ONCE, the innovation of the lottery games has drastically increased the sales margin and charity’s ability to generate its key source of funding.

In fact, thanks to Ventura 24’s innovative drive, ONCE’s sales increased by 108,29% in 2014! We are very pleased about this collaboration and truly hope that it will continue to blossom in the same trend in the future.

Ventura’s reputation in the charity sector, has also led to collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, whereby Ventura proudly organizes its annual online lottery draw https://www.ventura24.es/sorteo-oro-boletos.do.

Red Cross was founded in the late 19th century. Its origins stem from the International Committee for Relief to the Wounded set up as early as 1963. Since then, the charity has aimed to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering world-wide.

The first ever Red Cross Draw was held in 1980, called el Gran Premio de Oro. This unique initiative arose from the need to obtain funding in order to carry on the work of Red Cross whilst simultaneously, giving the supporters of the charity a new platform for helping those in need. Historically, this was the very first gold bullion award in Spain, and ever since the draw has been known as the Sorteo de Oro.

Ventura24 doesn’t just sell the tickets, in order to increase awareness and participation, Ventura24 also organizes the social lottery club “Peña Super Oro”, which allows for the greatest number of people to get involved in their own way.

In 2015 draw, Ventura24 distributed a prize of 6,900 EUR to 688 participants. The gold value of the prize was 297,856 grams! We are pleased to report, that Ventura24 has contributed to a significant and steady growth in sales, with an increase of 116% in 2015, and we do hope that the draw continues to flourish!

LOTTOBETTING – ‘UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE WAY TO FUNDRAISE’

Similarly to Ventura24’s collaboration with charities, another ZEAL subsidiary, Lotto Network Limited, has also been doing some amazing work. In short, Lotto Network enables its partners to host their own branded draw-based lotto product and offers their players life-changing multimillion-pound jackpots by plugging into their existing liquidity and infrastructure. Its efforts were recognised when it became the proud recipient of the Lotteries’ Council award – Gambling Commission Licensed Operator of the year 2015.

Lotto Network has partnered up with 21 professional sports teams, including Arsenal, Aston Villa, Swansea City and many others. By utilizing MyLotto24’s lottery betting product and allowing its partners to raise funds for good causes, Lotto Network directs 26% of gross stakes to the Sports Clubs’ own unique dedicated projects.

Swansea City Football Club Story

Sports clubs often form the hub of a community and Swansea City Football Club is no different, with the Swansea City Community Trust working in and around Swansea for over 20 years. SwansAid was set up last year to fund even more projects aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in west Wales.

With the Club’s proceeds from Swans Lotto forming a large portion of the funding, SwansAid is perfectly set up to fund community projects that have a positive impact for the young people involved.

The Llanelli-based Ysgol Heol Goffa special needs school received a £2,000 grant from SwansAid following an application towards the end of 2013. Successful in its bid, the school is now putting the donated money towards buying an extra mobility bike for the children to enjoy.

Linden Jones, Swans winger Nathan Dyer, and Club Ambassador Lee Trundle went along to Ysgol Heol Goffa to hand over the sizeable cheque and give the young Swansea City fans at the school a chance to meet a couple of their heroes.

"I think it's brilliant," said Dyer. "We are so privileged ourselves, so giving something back is one of the few things that we can do in the community. Seeing the children’s faces and chatting with them today was brilliant. They're so full of life - it makes me happy to see that they're happy."

The Arsenal Foundation Story

The Arsenal Foundation was launched in Arsenal's 125th Anniversary year, 2012, to create a lasting legacy to grow the reach and effect of Arsenal's good work in its community and with good causes.

The Club has committed £100,000 to the Willow Foundation over three years to fulfil special days for seriously ill young adults and a donation of £50,000 per year for the next three years to Islington Giving to fund a youth engagement project delivering structured football activities on Friday evenings for young people at suitable venues across the Borough where Arsenal proudly resides.

All in all, the Arsenal Foundation has already given more than £1m to support a variety of local and global projects enabling more young people around the globe to thrive using Arsenal's name to engage and inspire them. The Arsenal Lotto, in aid of Arsenal Foundation, gives Club’s supporters the chance to win life-changing prizes twice a week whilst also supporting The Arsenal Foundation.

Aside from its collaboration with the Sports Clubs, Lotto Network is also behind an innovative and unique way for smaller charitable causes to raise funds for their work, where organisations of all sizes can host their own branded lottery betting product. Since its launch, 34 organisations have benefited from Lottogiving.

Rain Rescue Story

Rain Rescue is a registered charity which works tirelessly to save the lives of dogs and cats in crisis situations within the South Yorkshire area. In 2014 Rain Rescue saved over 400 cats and dogs from the stray pounds and the streets.

By using Lottogiving, and setting up their very own Rain Rescue Lotto, the charity is already on course to boost their annual income by around 6% after each subscribing player’s first full year – all without any financial outlay.

With an annual turnover of just over £150,000, introducing an interactive new way to give has been well received by donors and the funds are dedicating to helping animals in and around Yorkshire.

The Albion Foundation Story

Baggies Lotto, powered by Lotto Network, helps to fund the good work of The West Bromwich Albion Academy.

Back in his days as Albion's Academy manager, it was Ashworth's quest to raise the club's youth development programme to the Category One level it now enjoys. "I think it was the year of the Great Escape when we got started," the former Sporting and Technical Director told guests.

"In those days, we had to beg, steal and borrow whatever we could get for training - believe it or not, we even had to put sessions on at Aston Villa leisure centre because we were so short of facilities.

Now, thanks to Baggies Lotto, all proceeds raised are assigned directly to support the Baggies players of the future. For each lotto bet placed, this equates to 26% (39p) of your purchase, which gives the good causes and their supporters a fantastic way to get involved.
