The Board of Sportech PLC ('Sportech') is pleased to announce the appointment of
Piers Pottinger as Non-Executive Deputy Chairman with immediate effect.

Mr Pottinger, 52, has worked in a corporate environment for 27 years and has
close associations with the media, gaming and horseracing industries.

Mr Pottinger is currently Executive Deputy Chairman of Chime Communications PLC.
He is also Non-Executive Chairman of Newmarket Investments PLC, a Non-Executive
Director of Northern Racing PLC, Vice President of the National Society for
Epilepsy and a Trustee of the Foundation for Liver Research.

Ian Penrose, Chief Executive of Sportech, said:

"I am delighted that Piers is joining the Board of Sportech. He brings a wealth
of strategic, operational and media expertise. His appointment is part of our
strategy to strengthen the Board with additional skills that can invigorate the
business and develop its strong portfolio of gaming products. I am very much

There are no further details to be disclosed under the Continuing Obligations 
provisions of the Listing Rules (new rules LR9.6.13).
