              Competition Commission provisionally clears proposed
                     acquisition of Vernons Football Pools

Sportech PLC (the "Company"), the UK's leading football gaming business, notes
the provisional findings of the Competition Commission, published earlier today,
which indicate that the Company's proposed acquisition of Vernons Football Pools
will not lead to a substantial lessening of competition.

The Company is pleased that the proposed acquisition has been provisionally
cleared, and will continue to work closely with the Competition Commission
through to its final decision. The Commission is required to publish its final
decision regarding the proposed acquisition by 17 October 2007.
