             Sportech PLC continues to pursue proposed acquisition
                           of Vernons football pools



Sportech PLC (the "Company"), one of the UK's leading gaming businesses and the
UK's leading football pools operator, announces that, in agreement with
Ladbrokes PLC, it will continue to pursue the proposed acquisition of the
Vernons football pools business despite the decision made by the Office of Fair
Trading to refer the merger to the Competition Commission.

Sportech will offer its full support and co-operation to the Competition
Commission during its consultation process. The Company will make a further
announcement once the Competition Commission issues its decision, which is
expected by 17 October 2007.
