Company eyes foray into Africa; executes projects for two hospitals in Saudi Arabia and Dragon Mart extension in Dubai

Dubai, September 30, 2015: Lite-Tech Industries, a subsidiary of Masharie LLC – the private equity arm of Dubai Investments PJSC and a joint venture with Philips Lighting BV, is set to become the number one LED supplier in the UAE, particularly in the indoor lighting segment, in line with its plans to start a dedicated assembly unit for complete LED fixtures.

With the new facility, Lite-Tech Industries will reinforce its leadership in the energy-efficient LED-based lighting technology and its commitment to sustainability. The company, currently manufacturing nearly 300,000 conventional and LED fixtures, plans to scale up its capacity to nearly 500,000 fixtures in three years’ time with the new unit. LED will take a major chunk of the production output.

The state-of-the-art unit at Lite-Tech’s manufacturing facility in Dubai will offer end-to-end assembly of world-class LED components in various printed circuit boards and fixtures for both indoor and outdoor applications, which not only offer high brightness and power efficiency but also lower carbon emissions than traditional lighting technologies.

The LED luminaires from Lite-Tech lead to up to 85% energy savings, compared to traditional conventional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs. With the new assembly line, expected to go on stream in December 2015, Lite-Tech will be able to offer its own brand of 100% locally made LED luminaries including down lights, panel lights and spot lights among others.

These LED luminaires will be assembled with the best components from international suppliers, and Lite-Tech Industries will offer up to seven years’ warranty on its range of LED products.

Engr. Khalid Nashashibi, General Manager of Lite-Tech Industries, said: “Lite-Tech is entering a new era in cutting-edge LED technologies with the proposed assembly line. The company is sourcing custom pick-and-place moulds for LEDs for the assembly unit to meet various client requirements and provide quality products to end users with extended warranty. This move is a significant step in line with Lite-Tech’s commitment to environment and the UAE government’s initiatives towards a sustainable future.”

The company also announced plans to expand its geographical footprint to Africa to tap into the burgeoning demand for lighting solutions amidst rampant construction projects in the continent. This is part of an outreach by the company to tap into new revenue streams which also include partnerships with developers & contractors and enhancing trading activities.

Lite-Tech Industries also announced completion of the supply of lighting solutions for two hospitals’ project for Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia worth AED 7 million, besides the execution of Dragon Mart extension project in Dubai for a value of AED 5 million in the first six months of 2015.

The project execution came in the wake of increasing demand for LEDs lighting solutions in the region. The LED market is growing by approximately 10% year-on-year and in the current year, the growth has spurted. Regionally, LED takes up about 20% to 30% of the lighting industry, but it is still way below the global average of approximately 70% market share that the LED enjoys.

On an average, LED tubes have a significantly longer life span of 60,000 hours, compared to a traditional fluorescent tube lasting about 15,000 hours. LED lights also have a wider optimum temperature range. This will reduce cost of the repurchase and maintenance beside electricity bills.
